Valium for the Soul

Come with me on a journey through uncharted territory...

Quotes:
How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being. - Oscar Wilde
Quotes:
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. - Albert Einstein
Quotes:
Education: that which reveals to the wise, and conceals from the stupid, the vast limits of their knowledge. - Mark Twain
Quotes:
I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him. - Mark Twain
Quotes:
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. - Albert Einstein

I should have named him Brian
Conversation had with small boy over dinner about taxes:

SB: Well, why do we have to pay taxes?
Me: Someone has to pay for the roads.
SB: Roads?? (incredulously)
Me: Well who do you think pays for the roads?
SB: The Romans?
Me: collapses in laughter

Nuclear Wedding Present

Apparently Kim Jong-il, Korean dictator leader has married his secretary.

Its a little disturbing that she is only 'cute' rather than beautiful like his former wife (deceased), however when you are this powerful I guess the choices are limited - and at least she can type.

Very little more here.

Classic quotes from Aussie socceroos
Ok so they may be purloined from elsewhere and reallocated but they're still funny:

Cahill

"I would not be bothered if we lost every game as long as we won the
league." - Mark Viduka.

"Guus Hiddink is the best manager I've ever had at this level. Well,
he’s the only manager I've actually had at this level. But he's
the best manager I’ve ever had." - Lucas Neill.

"If you don't believe you can win, there is no point in getting out of
bed at the end of the day." - John Aloisi.

"I've had 14 bookings this season - 8 of which were my fault, but 7 of
which were disputable." - Ned Zelic.

"I've never wanted to leave. I'm here for the rest of my life, and
hopefully after that as well." - Mark Schwarzer.

"I'd like to play for an Italian club, like Barcelona." - Vince
Grella.

"You've got to believe that you're going to win, and I believe we'll
win the World Cup until the final whistle blows and we're knocked
out." -
Harry Kewell.

"I'm as happy as I can be - but I have been happier." - Mile
Sterjovski.

"Leeds is a great club and it's been my home for years, even though I
live in Middlesborough." - Mark Viduka.

"I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel." - Craig Moore.

"I took a whack on my left ankle, but something told me it was my
right." - Harry Kewell.

"I couldn't settle in Italy- it was like living in a foreign country."
- Vince Grella.

"Germany is a very difficult team to play . . . they have 11
internationals out there." - Zeljko Kalac.

"I always used to put my right boot on first, and then obviously my
right sock." - Jason Culina.

"The Brazilians were South American, and the Ukrainians will be more
European." - Scott Chipperfield.

"All that remains is for a few dots and commas to be crossed." - Marco
Bresciano.

"One accusation you can't throw at me is that I've always done my
best." - Craig Moore.

"I'd rather play in front of a full house than an empty crowd." - Mark
Viduka.

"Sometimes in football you have to score goals." - Harry Kewell.

Update on the School Reports

Well I was right (to my deep chagrin) - the new reports are Crap! They tell me a lot of shit that I already know - for example:

  • Small girl can kick with either foot & can throw overarm
  • Small boy has difficulty getting started (procrastination) but when he does he is great
  • Both children are articulate and are quick mental processors
Excellent.

I already know that. As I suspected, the reports provide no information regarding progress made or information regarding the children's perceptions of how they are doing.

Not happy (can you tell lol). So I have passed along my feedback, and will wait for the next incarnation, hoping (probably in vain) that the school will return to the previous method of reporting, which to my mind is significantly superior.
